My name is Michael Paulding and I’m an IT instructor here at Kapi`olani Community College. The course I am speaking about is BUS 250 which is Applied Mathematics in Business. This course is roughly divided into two parts, it’s all applied and all relevant, it’s finally a math course that you can say, “how does this apply in real life” and you’ll know the answer. It’s split into two parts: half of its finances and half of its calculus. So we’re doing things like taking a look at amortization and mortgages, how much it costs to afford a home, what you need for retirement, looking at that, and looking at the calculus side: derivatives, rates of change, and how businesses change over time. So I welcome you to the course, love to see you and thank you for visiting.
