Course Syllabus

Hello, my name is Dr. Steve Singer, ITS 129 – Introduction to Databases is a course that will teach you what a database is, how to create one and how to use it. You will learn that databases are used almost everywhere. It’s on your phone when you store your contact information and on the internet when you use Google or other search engines to find websites. This course will show you how to create a database to collect and keep track of information that is important to you. Learning to query databases is an essential part of this course. This course will show you how to use structured query language (SQL) to retrieve information from a database and explain why it is important to spend time designing a good database based on a relational model.
