This course will cover the basic knowledge and skills needed to install, manage and maintain a database server. This course views the database from the perspective of a database administrator managing hardware and software resources in a business environment.

Hello my name is Dr. Steven Singer, ITS 149AD Database Administration I – Is the first of two courses that will teach students how to administer an enterprise database. It is designed to provide a firm foundation in basic database administration. Students will learn how to install and maintain a database server and will get a conceptual understanding of database server architecture and how its components work and interact with each other. By the end of the course students will create an operational database and properly manage the various structures in an effective and efficient manner including performance monitoring, database security, user management, and backup/recovery techniques.
