Hi there, my name is Dr. Steve Singer, ITS 229AD Database Administration II – Is the second and final course in database administration and advances students’ knowledge of maintaining a large database. In this class, students will learn how to configure a database server for enterprise applications. Student practice various methods of recovering the database using RMAN (Recovery Manager) and Flashback technology. Database performance monitoring tools will be covered in addition to the steps needed to resolve common problems and improve performance. Students will also learn how to administer a database efficiently by using database technologies such as the Resource Manager, the Scheduler, Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and VLDB (Very Large Database) features. They will set up a secure database using Virtual Private Database, and learn how to efficiently move data from database to database.
